Advertising and affiliate links
How the site is paid for, what it carries today, and the rule that keeps money out of the facts.
Advertising
The site carries no advertising today. If it is switched on, it will be one Google AdSense advertisement at the bottom of a page, labelled Sponsored, and the VIN decoder, search, the contact form, the private pages and this page will not carry one. What the site collects is on the privacy page.
Affiliate links
The site may link to books or products through affiliate programs and earn a commission on a purchase. It carries no affiliate links today.
What money does not change
Commission never affects which products are recommended, how they are described or ranked, or any published fact. No advertiser, affiliate partner, manufacturer, club or dealer can pay to add, remove, soften or reorder a figure, a source, a disagreement or a photograph. A link appears only where it helps a reader explore the history or sources discussed on the page.
If an ad or a link looks out of place, tell us through the contact form. The rest of our policies are on the policies page.
