What this record proves

The badge is only the beginning.

This record begins with Ford’s buying sequence, not a survivor’s appearance. The 1967 brochure told a customer to choose a V-8 and then add the GT Equipment Group. The 390 and the GT package could meet in one factory configuration, but one does not prove the other on an individual car.

The four-speed branch wore GT identification rather than the GTA striping Ford associated with SelectShift. Its 320 horsepower and 427 lb-ft are published factory nominal ratings from the SAE-gross era. They are not chassis-dynamometer observations and do not predict an acceleration result without the car’s weight, axle, tires, preparation, conditions, method, and driver.

A 390 engine does not authenticate a factory GT. Fog lamps, striping, exhaust outlets, and other restored details are useful inspection leads, not a build record. This page establishes an advertised factory power team; vehicle-specific authenticity still requires records and physical evidence tied to the individual Mustang.
