The Javelin, and with it the Javelin AMX, disappeared after the 1974 model year. JavelinAMX.com records that AMC left the AMX name unused through 1975 and 1976, with Hornet X and Matador X carrying AMC's sporty image, until the name returned on the 1977 Hornet AMX. No US production figure applies to 1976, and this record shows none.1
