For 1976 Ford dropped the Grabber and introduced a Stallion package of special paint and trim in its place, per Wikipedia. Classic Industries counts 60,611 two-door and 79,076 four-door Mavericks built for the year, context rows for the whole model line rather than a Stallion-specific count; no source consulted gives a factory-published Stallion production figure.1,2

Factory prices for 1976 ran $3,117 (six) and $3,265 (V-8) for the two-door sedan, and $3,189 (six) and $3,337 (V-8) for the four-door sedan, each $148 apart between engines and each roughly $70 to $75 higher on the four-door than the corresponding two-door engine. A separate catalogue entry lists a $329 figure that this record reads as the Stallion dress-up package's price, by analogy with a parallel Pinto entry priced at $283 in the same source; the catalogue's own sentence structure ends with the price directly after naming a "competition" suspension option, so the record flags that a reviewer should confirm the $329 belongs to the Stallion package as a whole rather than to that suspension option alone. No price breakdown by engine was found for the Stallion package itself, so it is not known whether the $329 figure applies equally on top of either the six or the V-8 base price.3

The Stallion Group, sold under sales number 91 on the two-door, bundled a blacked-out grille, front end, windshield and backlite moldings, and wiper arms with dual black mirrors, Stallion fender decals, paint-and-tape treatment across the hood, roof, deck lid, and lower body, styled wheels, and DR70x14 raised-white-letter radial tires, DR78x14 in California. A heavy-duty suspension was bundled into the group as well. The same source notes the Stallion Group could not be combined with the Exterior or Luxury Decor groups, rocker moldings, an accent stripe, color-keyed mirrors, styled steel wheels, or trim rings, making it a self-contained alternative to those other dress-up options rather than something layered on top of them.4

Five Stallion colors were charted: Silver, Red, Yellow, White, and Silver Blue, though no source states whether these five exhaust the full 1976 Stallion palette or whether the plain Maverick line carried additional colors of its own not captured in this record. Curb weight for the plain two-door sedan ran to 2,929 lb; no separate Stallion curb weight was found, so whatever weight the package's paint, tape, wheels, and heavy-duty suspension added over the plain two-door is not recorded here.4

One further claim was found but not incorporated as fact: a page on the Ford Maverick Page site states "Only 5529 Made!" for the 1976 Stallion, a figure this record carries only as an unpublished lead because it rests on a single source that names no underlying document and cannot be checked against a factory tally or a second reference book. No engine ratings, transmission choices, performance figures, or identification codes survive in the sources consulted for 1976, leaving the two body-style production counts, the four sedan prices, the Stallion package's price and equipment list, its five color names, and the one curb weight figure as the whole of what this record can document for the Grabber's replacement.4

Coverage: Partial — researched sections are shown; missing ones are not yet sourced. Researched through 2026-09-23.

Every figure is labeled with how sure we are. Reported means a manufacturer, registry, or reference figure we cite but have not reconciled against factory records ourselves. Disputed means credible sources disagree and both are shown. Rows are separately scoped; don't add them together unless the note says they make up a total.
