Pontiac's 50th-anniversary year brought the black-and-gold Limited Edition Trans Am. This record's own overview states that compiled tables count 2,590 of them, 643 with hatch roofs, inside a Trans Am total of 46,704 and a Firebird total of 110,775, and that the 455 was offered in the Trans Am for the last time that year, with Tran-Zam counting 7,528 Trans Am 455s, all manual. The remaining 64,071 cars split into 21,206 base Firebirds, 22,252 Esprits and 20,613 Formulas.1,2
The Trans Am's 46,704 cars carried 39,176 with the 400 and 7,528 with the 455, and this record's own production notes state that the engine and transmission rows partition that total directly. The Limited Edition breaks down further: 1,628 400 coupes, 533 400 T-tops, 319 455 coupes and 110 455 T-tops, the exact key fact this record leads with. This record's own conflicts note flags the 319-car 455-coupe figure as disputed, since MuscleCarClub prints 310 instead; 319 is kept here because it is the number that closes both Tran-Zam's 2,590 Limited Edition total and the 7,528 Trans Am 455 total, while 310 is recorded as the competing Red Book-lineage figure.1,2
A second conflict in this record concerns Esprit production: the 22,252 figure shown is the one that closes the 110,775 Firebird total, while Tran-Zam's own Esprit sub-table separately prints 20,252, a two-thousand-unit gap the conflicts entry records without resolving. The Formula line also carried a W50 appearance package, installed on 9,669 cars that model year, a figure drawn from Tran-Zam's colors-page production total rather than the main production table.1
This record carries no price section for 1976, for the reason given in its own price notes: a J.D. Power valuation figure was removed from every page on the site because those live pages can change without notice and cannot be independently checked, and no replacement source has yet been found. Five engines are documented instead: the 250 six at 110 hp and 185 lb-ft, the 350 two-barrel at 160 hp, the 350 four-barrel at 165 hp, the 400 four-barrel at 185 hp standard on Trans Am and Formula, and the 455 four-barrel at 200 hp and 330 lb-ft, optional on Trans Am only in its final year of availability.1
Pontiac offered fourteen exterior colors for 1976, and this record's own interior gallery again documents the year's color-coded standard trims, opening with 91M1 White Seat, Black and 11M1 White with Black Appointments. No shipping weights, dimensions, factory-test performance figures or identification details survive in this record's own specifications, performance and identification sections, all three of which are left empty, and no unpublished leads are carried for the model year.1
