1991 Lincoln Mark VII LSC
The LSC and Bill Blass converge: the Blass takes the LSC's suspension and wheels, and both are priced at just over $30,700.
United States · researched through 2026-09-22
For 1991 the Mark VII line remained the LSC and the Bill Blass Edition, and the two converged mechanically: Wikipedia states the Bill Blass adopted the LSC's own suspension and wheels for the year, and the Lincoln Mark VII Club similarly describes the 1991-92 Bill Blass as gaining the improved suspension and the high-output engine that had previously distinguished the LSC. Conceptcarz reports both cars priced at just over $30,700, without a more precise figure for either car individually, so this record carries that single approximate figure for both trims rather than two separate prices. Wikipedia additionally records redesigned seats with lower headrests arriving for 1991.1,2,3
No usable 1991 production figure was found. Wikipedia's own production table, citing a Lincoln Mark VII Club forum post, assigns 8,880 to 1991 and 5,732 to 1992, while conceptcarz assigns that same 8,880 figure to 1992 instead and gives no 1991 total at all, an outright disagreement about which year a single number belongs to rather than two competing counts of the same year. Both totals probably descend from the same underlying club list, but since the two sources disagree on which year the 8,880 figure describes, this record shows the dispute rather than asserting a 1991 total. The forum post itself no longer resolves, so it is carried as an unpublished lead rather than a citable source.2,1
The 5.0-liter (302 cid) H.O. V8 was rated 225 hp at 4,200 rpm and 300 lb-ft at 3,200 rpm, standard on both the LSC and the Bill Blass. Lincoln's own 1991 Mark VII catalog prints those figures as SAE net, adds a 9.0:1 compression ratio and a 101.6 x 76.2 mm (4.0 x 3.0 in) bore and stroke, and describes sequential multi-port electronic fuel injection, tubular stainless steel headers, a tuned cast-aluminum intake manifold, dual exhaust and the EEC-IV engine computer. It asks for 87 octane unleaded as a minimum. The catalog does not say how the engine is aspirated, so the record carries only the fuel-delivery wording. A four-speed automatic overdrive with a lock-up converter, printed with gear ratios of 2.40, 1.47, 1.00 and 0.67 and a 3.27:1 axle, was the only transmission; a Traction-Lok axle was optional on the LSC. The Lincoln Mark VII Club's text treats the Bill Blass as having gained the LSC's engine rather than keeping a distinct one, so no separate Bill Blass engine rating is carried.2,3,4
The same brochure lays the two models side by side. Its introduction says Mark VII was available in LSC and Bill Blass models for 1991, and its feature chart shows where they differ. On the LSC, analog instrumentation with a tachometer is standard, electronic instrumentation is listed as not available, fog lamps are standard, and the articulated sport seat with individual power lumbar and side bolster adjustments is the standard seat. Upper body dual band paint accent stripes are listed as not available on the LSC, while they are standard on the Bill Blass. Both cars are shown with a driver-side air bag, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, electronic air suspension with level control, a handling suspension, illuminated keyless entry, power windows and door locks, and BBS handling cast-aluminum wheels with P225/60R16 tires. The brochure prints a curb weight of 3,807 lb for the LSC and 3,782 lb for the Bill Blass.
On the LSC the catalog marks ten items optional. They are the Traction-Lok axle, special edition monochromatic paint, a non-articulated seat with leather trim and a leather seat with cloth inserts (each printed as no extra charge), the 140-watt Ford JBL audio system, an AM/FM radio with an integral compact disc, a factory-installed cellular telephone, a power moonroof, an electrochromic automatic dimming mirror and an anti-theft alarm. The catalog prints no prices and no option codes, so each of these is recorded without a price or code, and only the two no-extra-charge seats carry a stated zero. Its closing notice says options may be offered only in combination with other options or subject to additional ordering requirements, and that prices and equipment may have changed after printing. The catalog describes what Lincoln offered in mid-1990, not what any dealer ordered or how many cars carried a given option.
The LSC column lists thirteen standard exterior colors: Medium Mocha Clearcoat Metallic, Light Mocha Pearlescent Clearcoat Metallic, Cranberry Clearcoat Metallic, Garnet Red Clearcoat Metallic, Burgundy Clearcoat Metallic, Amethyst Pearlescent Clearcoat Metallic, Crystal Blue Pearlescent Clearcoat Metallic, Regatta Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Twilight Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Midnight Black Clearcoat, Graphite Clearcoat Metallic, Titanium Pearlescent Clearcoat Metallic and Arctic White. The two Mocha colors and Regatta Blue are marked not available on the Bill Blass. Special edition monochromatic paint, optional on the LSC only, comes in Garnet Red Clearcoat Metallic or Midnight Black Clearcoat, and a photograph of an LSC in monochromatic Midnight Black Clearcoat appears in the catalog. A photograph of an LSC is captioned Medium Cranberry Clearcoat Metallic, while the color chart says only Cranberry Clearcoat Metallic; the record quotes both as printed. Five interior colors are listed for the LSC, Crystal Blue, Mocha, Cranberry, Ebony and Light Titanium, of which the first three are not available on the Bill Blass.
Beyond that catalog, the sourcing for the year is limited to conceptcarz's pricing and production pages, Wikipedia's year notes and production table, the Lincoln Mark VII Club's history paragraph, and a single transmission mention from Old Car Memories. No period road test was located for 1991. The catalog is a marketing document: it prints no prices, no paint or trim codes and no production figures, and it says 1991 EPA mileage estimates were unavailable when it was printed, so this record carries no fuel-economy or performance figures. Its specification table prints the wheel entry as 'cast aluminum 16x17-inch' beside a P225/60R16 tire size; the record quotes the wheel line as printed and shows the inconsistency under conflicts instead of correcting it.2
This record's own production row for 1991 therefore carries no numeric value at all, marked disputed rather than populated with either the 8,880 or an alternative figure, since none of the three sites' assignment of that number to a specific year can be checked against a factory production report or the underlying forum post that Wikipedia and conceptcarz apparently draw from. Lincolns OnLine, a 1999 enthusiast history with no sources named, sides with Wikipedia on 1991 but words the figure as sales and gives a third 1992 figure (5,439), so it is not counted as a confirmation. Closing the gap would need either a direct read of that forum topic before its current redirect, or a Ford or Lincoln factory production report naming 1991 specifically rather than relying on a secondhand club compilation.2,5,1

Coverage: Partial — researched sections are shown; missing ones are not yet sourced. Researched through 2026-09-22.
Every figure is labeled with how sure we are. Reported means a manufacturer, registry, or reference figure we cite but have not reconciled against factory records ourselves. Disputed means credible sources disagree and both are shown. Rows are separately scoped; don't add them together unless the note says they make up a total.

Searched 2026-09-29: Wikipedia and conceptcarz (both read), the Lincolns OnLine model history (read, a third and partly independent voice for 1991), the Mark VII Club forum list (now redirects). A Ford or Lincoln-Mercury production report or the Standard Catalog of American Cars 1976-1999 naming 1991 would settle it. Lincolns OnLine gives 5,439 for 1992, matching neither 8,880 (conceptcarz) nor 5,732 (Wikipedia), so the 1992 record is disputed on a third figure too.

Where the sources disagree
Which year the 8,880 figure belongs to
- 1991 = 8,880; 1992 = 5,7322
- 1991 = 8,880 (worded as sales); 1990 = 22,313; 1992 = 5,4395
- 1992 = 8,880 (no 1991 figure given)1
Show the dispute; no 1991 total is asserted. Wikipedia and conceptcarz probably descend from the same club list. Lincolns OnLine supports the 1991 assignment but words it as sales, names no source, and disagrees with both on 1992, so it does not settle the year.
Wheel size as printed in the 1991 brochure
- Chassis line 'Wheels': 'cast aluminum 16x17-inch'
- Tires: P225/60R16 BSW steel-belted radials (printed in both the Chassis line and the Tires/Wheels list)
Quoted as printed; the wheel line is not corrected. The brochure's own tire size is a 16-inch code, so the '16x17' wheel entry is carried as an unresolved printing inconsistency rather than a wheel diameter.
