Plymouth's 1962 line, Savoy, Belvedere, Fury, and Sport Fury, all rode a 116-inch wheelbase, and at the top of the engine sheet sat the "Super Stock 413," a 413-cubic-inch wedge fed by two Carter four-barrels on a short cross-ram intake. Over-Drive lists the 410-horsepower version, on 11.0:1 compression, as a $375 option, with a 420-horsepower 13.5:1 version above it. Chrysler's own June 1963 technical bulletin later described the following year's 426 as the direct successor to this 1962 Super Stock and Ramcharger 413 program, tying the two engine families together across model years.1,2

The Super Stock 413 was only the top of a broader performance ladder that year. Below it, Plymouth listed a 413 NASCAR version at 400 horsepower, a dual-four-barrel "413 Performance" at 385, and a single-four-barrel "413 Performance" at 365, all on the same 413 cubic inches but tuned to progressively milder states depending on carburetion and compression. Two AMA-sourced ratings for the 385- and 365-horsepower versions match the fact sheet's own figures exactly, giving those two entries independent confirmation that the top two Super Stock ratings, sourced only from the fact sheet, do not have.1,3

No production count for the Super Stock 413 itself survives in any source inspected for this record. What is documented instead is the much larger host-body context: 18,825 Savoy two-door sedans, 49,777 Savoy four-door sedans, 5,086 Belvedere two-door hardtops, and 4,039 Sport Fury two-door hardtops, among other body counts, all covering every engine sold in that body rather than isolating the Super Stock cars within them. A separately compiled Over-Drive production table puts the full 1962 Plymouth standard line at 182,220 units, but that table carries a visible error elsewhere, a Savoy fleet four-door price that does not match other figures, so the record uses it with the caveat that its numbers deserve extra scrutiny.1,4

Pricing for the host cars ranged widely even before the Super Stock option was added: a Savoy two-door fleet sedan started at $2,295, while a Sport Fury convertible topped the line at $3,082, a roughly $787 spread across the 1962 Plymouth full-size range. Sport Fury buyers got a 305-horsepower "Golden Commando" 361 as their standard engine, while other trims could add the milder "Super Fury" 318 at 260 horsepower for just $39, a modest option price next to the Super Stock 413's $375 that shows how much extra a buyer paid specifically to reach the top of Plymouth's 1962 engine range.4,1

The standard transmission was a three-speed manual, with Chrysler's TorqueFlite automatic optional at $211 with a V8, and Super Stock cars carried a 3.91:1 rear axle ratio with the manual transmission per the fact sheet's own axle table. Beyond the drivetrain, the 1962 options sheet ran to dozens of individually priced items, from a $6 left-hand outside mirror and $11 backup lights up to $446 for factory air conditioning including the heater, a spread that shows Plymouth pricing comfort equipment separately down to single-digit dollar amounts rather than bundling it all into a handful of packages, right down to a $6 windshield-wiper upgrade and a $12 washer.1
