The restyled 1965 Fairlane topped out with the K-code 289 High Performance V8, 271 hp at 6,000 rpm at 10.9:1 compression and a $430 option over the base engine, offered alongside the bucket-seat Sports Coupe. A separate production table gives 223,954 Fairlanes for the year, split between 52,974 base Fairlanes and 170,980 Fairlane 500s; within the 500 line, the Sports Coupe (body 65B, 15,141 units) is tabulated as its own row distinct from the plainer Fairlane 500 hardtop (65A, 41,405). No count of K-code installations specifically was found, only the option's price and rating.1,2

The Fairlane 500 series broke down as 77,836 four-door sedans, 16,092 two-door sedans, 20,506 station wagons, 41,405 two-door hardtops, and 15,141 Sports Coupes, summing to the reported 170,980. The plain Fairlane series added 25,378 four-door sedans, 13,685 two-door sedans, and 13,911 station wagons for 52,974, and together the two series sum to the 223,954 series total; the production table carries no Ranchero rows for this model year, so the Fairlane-based pickup is not represented anywhere in these production figures.1,2

Factory prices ran from $2,183 (six) and $2,288 (V8) for the plain Fairlane two-door sedan up to $2,697 for a V8 Fairlane 500 station wagon. Between those, the Fairlane four-door sedan ran $2,223/$2,329, the Fairlane wagon $2,512/$2,618, the Fairlane 500 four-door sedan $2,303/$2,409, the Fairlane 500 two-door sedan $2,263/$2,369, the Fairlane 500 hardtop $2,327/$2,432, and the Sports Coupe $2,484/$2,590. The standard 200 six made 120 hp and the standard 289 two-barrel V8 made 200 hp; a 225 hp 289 four-barrel added $130, and the range-topping K-code 289 made its 271 hp and 312 lb-ft at 3,400 rpm for the $430 already noted.2,1

A four-speed manual added $188 and Cruise-O-Matic $190, with a three-speed-with-overdrive available only behind the 289 V8; the standard column-shift three-speed ran 2.76/1.69/1.00 with the six and 2.79/1.77/1.00 with the 289. Optional rear axles of 3.50, 3.89, or 4.11 were available special-order on any V8, while the K-code specifically ran 3.89 with the four-speed or 3.50 with the automatic. Further options included $353 air conditioning, a $57 AM radio or $133 AM/FM, $42 power brakes, $84 power steering, $99 power windows, a $76 vinyl roof for the two-door hardtop, and, for station wagons specifically, a $45 luggage rack and a $32 power tailgate window.1

On a 116.0-inch wheelbase, the Fairlane measured 199.0 inches long (203.0 for wagons) and 73.8 inches wide, with a 57.0-inch front and 56.0-inch rear track; the two-door hardtop stood 54.8 inches tall against 51.9 inches for the lower-roofed Sports Coupe. K-code cars specified 7.35 x 14 red-line tires against 6.95 x 14 on other non-wagon cars. Shipping weight ran from 2,806 lb for a six-cylinder Fairlane two-door sedan, the lightest body listed, up to 3,080 lb for a V8 Sports Coupe, with the plainer Fairlane 500 hardtop at 3,069 lb with a V8. Fifteen exterior colors were charted for the year, including Raven Black, Wimbledon White, Rangoon Red, Caspian Blue, Dynasty Green, and Vintage Burgundy, alongside less common shades like Twilight Turquoise, Phoenician Yellow, and Prairie Bronze.1,2
