For 1964 Marauder no longer named a specific series but denoted the fastback roofline available on any full-size Mercury: Monterey, Montclair, or Park Lane, in either a two-door or four-door hardtop body, with the 390 standard and the 427 optional across the range. An Old Cars Weekly owner feature narrows in on one specific combination, reporting that only 2,721 Park Lane Marauders were built with the 63C fastback body and the Sport Option bucket-seat interior, powered by the Z-code 390 four-barrel rated 300 hp and 427 lb-ft, a specific and narrowly scoped combination distinct from the broader Marauder totals given elsewhere in this same year's own production data.1,2

Production is broken out across six separate body-and-series combinations: 8,760 Monterey two-door fastbacks, 4,143 Monterey four-door fastbacks, 6,459 Montclair two-door fastbacks, 8,655 Montclair four-door fastbacks, 2,721 Park Lane two-door Sport Option fastbacks, and 3,658 Park Lane four-door fastbacks, summing to 34,396 Marauders across the entire 1964 line. This record's own production note explains that a later research pass specifically added the two Montclair rows and the resulting all-series total from mercurystuff.com, since the conceptcarz pages used for the Monterey and Park Lane figures have no equivalent 1964 Montclair page at all, and that mercurystuff.com's own Monterey and Park Lane figures match the existing conceptcarz-sourced rows exactly, giving this record confidence in combining figures from the two different sources into one total rather than treating them as two unrelated, incompatible counts.3,4

Prices are documented for all six of the same body-and-series combinations: $2,884 for the Monterey two-door fastback, $2,957 for the Monterey four-door, $3,127 for the Montclair two-door, $3,181 for the Montclair four-door, $3,359 for the Park Lane two-door Sport Option, and $3,413 for the Park Lane four-door, a price ladder that climbs steadily from the plainest Monterey fastback to the top Park Lane variant, with each step up in series adding a few hundred dollars regardless of whether the body itself was a two-door or four-door fastback.4

The engines section carries two engines: the Z-code 390 Super Marauder V8 with a four-barrel carburetor, rated 300 hp and 427 lb-ft and listed as optional, from Old Cars Weekly; and the 427 V8, also optional, with no rating because none was found when that entry was built. Ford's own 1964 brochure, form M-110 and marketing material, now supplies the missing ratings in this record's specifications: a Marauder 427 at 410 hp and 476 lb-ft, a Marauder Super 427 with dual four-barrels at 425 hp and 480 lb-ft, and an Interceptor 390 at 330 hp, alongside the 250, 266 and 300 hp 390s. It also states that the Super 390 was standard on the Park Lane, which disagrees with the optional label and is recorded as a conflict.2

The same brochure, on its optional-equipment page and its exteriors, interiors, power-team and specification page, fills the options, paint, interiors and specifications sections for the full-size line. It lists thirteen optional or partly standard items from air conditioning to fender-sight signals, sixteen solid exterior colors and twenty-seven two-tone combinations, twelve cloth-and-vinyl and all-vinyl interior schemes plus a white one for the Park Lane Sports Package, and dimensions, capacities and transmission ratios. Its Marauder line-up page shows the Monterey, Montclair and Park Lane Marauder two- and four-door hardtops, and a footnote names the Montclair Marauder two-door hardtop, but it prints no dimensions specific to the Marauder body, so the specifications are scoped to the full-size line.

The brochure states no prices and no option or paint codes, so every option carries a null price and no code, and it is a sales document, so what it lists was offered rather than proven built. It names a Park Lane Sports Package with all-vinyl interiors, and Old Cars Weekly names a Sport Option bucket-seat interior on the 2,721 Park Lane Marauders, but no source in this record says the two are the same package, so this record does not equate them or reconstruct the package's contents from the OCW article. Performance-test data and identification detail were still not found.2

Coverage: Partial — researched sections are shown; missing ones are not yet sourced. Researched through 2026-09-22.

Every figure is labeled with how sure we are. Reported means a manufacturer, registry, or reference figure we cite but have not reconciled against factory records ourselves. Disputed means credible sources disagree and both are shown. Rows are separately scoped; don't add them together unless the note says they make up a total.

The Park Lane 2-door figure exactly matches mercurystuff.com's 2,721 for that body. 34,396 built, model-year Reported

A 2026-09-25 pass added the Montclair rows and an all-series total from mercurystuff.com (conceptcarz, used for the Monterey and Park Lane rows, has no 1964 Montclair page); the Monterey and Park Lane figures it gives match the existing conceptcarz-sourced rows exactly.

Where the sources disagree

Availability of the 300 hp Super Marauder 390

  • Z-code 390 Super Marauder, 4-barrel, 300 hp and 427 lb-ft, optional across the line2
  • Marauder Super 390 V-8 (4-V), 300 hp @ 4600 and 427 lb-ft @ 2800: standard on Park Lane, optional on the other series

The engines section carries the Old Cars Weekly availability label (optional) unchanged, so both are shown here rather than one overwriting the other. The two agree on the rating; they differ on whether the engine was standard on the Park Lane, which the factory brochure says it was. The brochure is marketing material and describes what was offered, not what was built.
