1967 Mercury S-55: the last year
The S-55's last year: 570 hardtops and 145 convertibles with the 428 four-barrel, per Wikipedia's table.
United States · researched through 2026-09-22
Wikipedia's own S-55 table gives 570 two-door hardtops at $3,511 and 145 convertibles at $3,837 for the S-55's final year, powered by a 428-cu-in four-barrel V8. This record's own title and dek describe 1967 directly as the S-55's last year, framing this record as covering the closing chapter of the nameplate rather than a mid-run model year, with only these two body styles and this single engine documented for the whole of that closing year in that table. Ford's own 1967 brochure, the factory literature for the year, now supplies the equipment detail described in the paragraphs below.1
Production is given as 570 hardtops and 145 convertibles, summing to 715 for the year as a whole; this record's own production note states plainly that the hardtop and convertible were the only two body styles offered, and that 1967 was itself the S-55's last year on the market, so this sum represents the model's entire final-year output rather than a partial count, with no third body style or additional variant left uncounted anywhere in the source. The same note flags that these are Wikipedia's own "sold" figures with no second lineage found to check them against, leaving the whole of this year's production picture resting on that single tabulated source rather than on two independently corroborating counts, and giving this record no way to cross-check either the 570 or the 145 figure against an unrelated compilation, so both numbers are carried exactly as Wikipedia states them rather than as independently verified counts.1
Prices are given as $3,511 for the hardtop and $3,837 for the convertible, a $326 spread between the two body styles, both figures drawn from the same Wikipedia table as the production counts above, with the convertible the more expensive of the two despite being built in far smaller numbers. The 428-cu-in V8 with a four-barrel carburetor is documented there as the standard engine, and this record's engine entry carries no rating for it. Ford's brochure names it the Super Marauder 428 V-8, rated 345 hp at 4600 rpm and 462 lb-ft at 2800 rpm, standard with the S-55 Sports Package and optional on the other series, and those figures are carried in the specifications section rather than in the engine entry.1
The brochure's S-55 page, marketing material from Lincoln-Mercury dated 9-66 as form M67-100, describes a Sports Package offered on the two-door hardtop or convertible. It lists an engine dress-up kit, tuned dual exhausts, power front disc brakes, a heavy-duty battery, special luxury car body insulation, sporty striping, deluxe wheel covers with spinners, a deluxe steering wheel, a Sports Console and new-design bucket seats, with special ornamentation for identification. It offers a choice of console-mounted 4-speed manual or Select-Shift Merc-O-Matic and calls them optional. The engine table, however, prints that pair in the 428 column's transmission row as standard, while its footnote (b) makes them extra cost for all but the Park Lane, Brougham and Marquis, an oddity in the brochure itself that this record quotes rather than corrects.
The brochure's Colors and fabrics page has a crinkle-vinyl column headed for the Montclair and Monterey sedans and hardtops, the Monterey convertible and the S-55 Sports Package, and that column is the basis for the seventeen exterior colors and four interior colors recorded here, with the exterior-and-interior pairings noted on each interior entry; Lime Frost is left blank in that column and so is not recorded. The brochure's dimensions and its general options table do not name the S-55, so nothing from them is recorded, and no prices, option or paint codes, performance-test data or identification detail were found. As a sales document it shows what was offered rather than what was built.

Every figure is labeled with how sure we are. Reported means a manufacturer, registry, or reference figure we cite but have not reconciled against factory records ourselves. Disputed means credible sources disagree and both are shown. Rows are separately scoped; don't add them together unless the note says they make up a total.
