1967 Pontiac Catalina 2+2
The 2+2 returned to option status with a standard 360 hp 428, and only 1,768 were built.
United States · researched through 2026-09-22
For 1967 the 2+2 returned to option status on the Catalina hardtop and convertible, now with a 360 hp 428 four-barrel standard, a floor-shifted three-speed, dual exhausts, heavy-duty suspension, bucket seats, and a 3.42:1 axle; a 376 hp 428 HO was optional across all models. A compiled table counts 1,768 2+2 cars built for the year with no split between the two bodies, and this record notes it as the last year of the full-size 2+2 within this coverage period.1,2
The 2+2's pricing carries a documented but not truly contradictory conflict: the fact sheet lists a 2+2 Sport Option at $389 to $410 depending on body, while the production table instead gives $3,320 and $3,705 as full model prices for the 2+2 hardtop and convertible. The two figures describe different things rather than disagreeing outright, since one source treats the 2+2 as a priced option added to a base Catalina and the other treats it as its own priced body; both are carried in the record for that reason.1,2
The plain Catalina series total is given as 240,750 across seven body styles: 80,551 four-door sedans, 37,256 four-door hardtops, 5,633 two-door sedans, 77,932 two-door hardtops, 10,033 convertibles, 11,040 nine-passenger station wagons, and 18,305 six-passenger station wagons. A rival library instead gives 211,405, a figure that equals 240,750 minus the two wagon rows combined, suggesting that page silently excludes station wagons from its own total without stating so; a separate transmission breakdown of 3,653 manual and 207,752 Hydra-Matic cars sums to that same 211,405.2,3
The standard 2+2 428 made 360 hp at 4,600 rpm and 472 lb-ft at 3,200 rpm at 10.5:1, while the optional 428 HO made 376 hp at 5,100 rpm and 462 lb-ft at 3,400 rpm, both engines sharing the same 10.5:1 compression and four-barrel induction despite the difference in output. A three-speed floor-shift manual was standard on the 2+2, with a four-speed manual and a Turbo-400 Hydra-Matic both optional at the same $226 price. An unpublished lead holds an approximate split of about 1,488 hardtops and 280 convertibles for the 2+2, though the source itself describes that split as not clearly documented.1
Further options included the 2+2 Sport Option itself at $389 to $410, front disc brakes at $105, Rally II wheels ranging $65 to $73, a $54 tachometer, and 8-lug aluminum hubs and drums ranging $118 to $135. On a 121-inch wheelbase shared with the plain Catalina, the 2+2 measured 215.6 inches long and 79.7 inches wide, with a standard 3.42:1 axle and a shipping weight of 3,730 lb for the hardtop. Seventeen exterior colors were charted for the year, including Starlight Black, Cameo Ivory, Regimental Red, Verdoro Green, and Mayfair Maize. Each car's cowl-mounted body plate recorded a build date, style number, body number, trim code, and paint codes, with assembly plants identified by codes shared with the Catalina and Executive lines, including PON for Pontiac, Michigan and BC for Southgate, California; interior trim for those two series was likewise listed together rather than broken out separately by model.1,2,4

Coverage: Partial — researched sections are shown; missing ones are not yet sourced. Researched through 2026-09-22.
Every figure is labeled with how sure we are. Reported means a manufacturer, registry, or reference figure we cite but have not reconciled against factory records ourselves. Disputed means credible sources disagree and both are shown. Rows are separately scoped; don't add them together unless the note says they make up a total.

Where the sources disagree
2+2 option price versus tabulated model price
Not contradictory in themselves (option price versus delivered model price), but the table treats the 2+2 as priced bodies while the fact sheet treats it as an option; both are shown.
